Incredibles 2

I have nothing bad to say about this film. On the other hand, I didn’t see anything to rave about. I am always leery of sequels, and I wish Pixar would do fewer of them and more original stories, like Coco. Yes, I know sequels can be as good as the original, and once in a very great while, even better. Finding Dory was as good as Finding Nemo, some say even better. All three of the Toy Story movies were fantastic. (Yet, do we really need a fourth? Coming to your neighborhood June 21, 2019.) But my favorite Pixar movies are stand-alones: WALL-E and Up. Neither cries out for a sequel, and I hope no one ever does one. And anyway, the fact remains that the majority of sequels, animated or live, don’t live up to the originals.

One of the upcoming announced Pixar films, in addition to Toy Story 4, is something called Onward, scheduled for March, 2020. I look forward to it.

As I said, I have nothing negative to say about the movie, other than that it brings no new ideas to the screen. Maybe I was just in a sour mood. But I was more than a little surprised to find that it is now the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time: $1,242,693,333, only $50,000,000 behind Frozen. Since it’s still playing as I write this (1/8/19), it could very well surpass it.
