This little low-to-medium-budget gem totally tanked at the box office. I don’t know why. Probably not enough publicity. I know I never heard of it until I happened on the DVD.

Anne Hathaway is an alcoholic writer who has to leave New York and return to Stephen King country to try to get her life together. Meanwhile, a giant Godzilla-like monster is ravaging its way through Seoul, Korea. (I know, I know, but don’t run away yet.) Eventually she discovers that the beast is somehow emulating her every move. It is some sort of avatar. She doesn’t want to hurt anyone, and tries to be careful, but makes the mistake of confiding in her asshole boyfriend, who becomes a giant robot avatar battling her. This doesn’t sound too coherent, but I believed it while watching it, and I liked where it went. You could certainly do worse if you’re looking for a science fiction movie.
