Terminator Genisys

(2015)

(NOTE: I was recently hospitalized for four days. So I did what I did the last time I was there: I watched movies from the small selection they offered. This was an opportunity to take in some that I normally would have passed on. And just as last time, I found they were all movies I was wise to have skipped. At least they didn’t make me any sicker. This is one.)

They hardly ever stop in time, do they? The first three together made one of the best movie trilogies I have ever seen. (Some didn’t like Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, but I did.) Then there was the awful Terminator Salvation, where they somehow forgot to put a real Terminator in it, and I figured that was enough. But no. They had to make this one. It is just a case of recycling everything you saw in the first movies. I mean, literally. We see the Gubernator arriving at the Los Angeles Observatory, naked, just like the first time. We hear the iconic line “Come with me if you want to live!” It’s all the same ol’ same ol’. Enough! We get it! But as long as these movies keep making roughly double the production costs (and as long as you keep going to see them) they will keep making them. But not for me.
