August is the month with no holidays (in the U.S., anyway). But it is the month of birthdays in my family. Mine is coming up on the 9th. I will be 73. Lee’s is on the 22nd. She will be mumblety-mumble years old. My sister Kerry’s is on the 16th. My mother’s is on the 21st . She would have been 94, but she died on the Ides of March. Only my sister Francine avoided the August rush. Hers is on D-Day, the 6th of June.

No particular message here. Not soliciting gifts, though we wouldn’t be averse to getting some e-cards. Or you could get your early Christmas shopping done by buying a few signed books! We just finished moving all the extra copies to a new location in the garage, and it was quite a job.

Very soon there will be five e-reprints of my books, Mammoth, The John Varley Reader, Red Lightning, Red Thunder, and Rolling Thunder. There will also be a boxed set of the last three. The covers are fantastic! They are coming out from Open Road. Take a look: Open Road.

I hope you are all staying safe and well in this critical time, wearing your masks and social distancing, going out as little as possible. Trump, the Bullshitter-in-Chief, says it’s all looking great! We’re just testing too much! “It is what it is,” he said, just today.

He’s right. It is a catastrophe that he and just about everyone else bungled criminally, and are still bungling.

Enough. I have mostly tried to keep this website away from politics, but it’s hard for me to imagine that anyone who likes my fiction would also like Trump.
